Gender Reconciliation gathers healers from the Western Cape

From 14-16 October 2016, Gender Reconciliation International and the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR) partnered to offer a powerful and transformative workshop on Gender Reconciliation with IJR’s Siyakha Community Healers. This incredible and courage group of 22 community leaders from all over the Western Cape, including Doringbaai, Elands Baai, Tulbagh, Saron, Op die Berg and Worcester, journeyed together for three days to heal, speak truth to their pain and challenges in their communities, and discover tools to begin to transform the wounding from the cultural conditioning and patriarchy. As women and men committed to making a difference in their communities, they discovered the power of reconciliation.

Deep gratitude to Leila Emdon for organising and coordinating this inaugural workshop and to Ricardo and the Siyakha leaders for the beauty with which you showed up! And to the facilitation team: Louis Laurens Botha Gaum, Desireé English, Les Thomas and Zanele Khumalo, thank you for your continued commitment to this important work!
